Tea Party Resolution 15-Apr-09

The United States of America was founded on the principles of limited government and free enterprise and by following those principles America became the strongest and most prosperous nation in the world; and

Our American prosperity is now at risk because of the failed policy of deficit spending, which has left the U.S. with billion-dollar deficits and trillions of dollars in national debt, and because of the burden of excessive taxes on businesses and taxpayers; and

Congress and the Obama administration have recently passed a "stimulus" package and a deficit budget full of pork-barrel projects and ear-marked funds and now propose to raise taxes on small businesses and the middle-class and to take further control of private industries;

Therefore, we the American People, united in protest against excessive spending and higher taxes, hereby call on the United States Congress and President Obama to:

  1. End deficit spending by cutting government spending and returning to a balanced budget; and
  2. Stop increasing taxes and to instead stimulate the economy by cutting taxes on businesses and citizens; and

We direct the St. George Tea Party committee to deliver a copy of this Resolution to our Utah U.S. Representatives and Senators, to the Speaker of the U.S House of Representatives, to the U.S. Senate Majority Leader, and to President Barack Obama.
